Zwei Brüder

Uncle Layden of U.S. Army fame and Aunt Sarah visited this weekend. Last year when they came they were living in South Korea. Now they live on the North Shore of Oahu. Lucky! We can't wait to visit them. Too bad flights to Honolulu aren't free. Or less than a thousand dollars, anyway...

I think these two guys are pretty cool. There is a whole lot of kindness, wisdom and sarcasm between these two boys. Their parents are lucky to have them and their wives and kids are pretty crazy about them.

Here are some things we did and learned this weekend:

1. Layden didn't know who Buddy Holly was. BUDDY HOLLY. Layden DID NOT know who he was. We set him straight.
2. Sarah can and did fix any knitting problem I could possibly conjure up. Phew!
3. We watched the Red Sox and Yankees game that went for five hours. FIVE HOURS. 14 innings finally redeemed by a 3-run bomb from this cutie-pie. Layden and Sarah endured it with us. What troopers.
4. We ate the most delicious Sunday dinner ever. This pasta and chicken marinated overnight in a bottle of Italian dressing and a bottle of Sprite (thank you, Laurie and Justin!) and then thrown on the grill. (Actually, on the next-door neighbor's grill, as our gas sputtered out half-way through the cooking time) Some nummy green beans and we were fulfilled. More full, but also fulfilled.
5. Foothills hike, of course.
6. We got to watch Granny try her hand at Lacrosse. The kids will never forget it.
