Grandma Katie

Mom, with her parents
My mom is flying in tonight (cross your fingers to ward off snow delays!) and our family is stoked! My kids are so in love with their Grandma Katie that sometimes I think they would happily trade their own parents for her. To have her in our home on Christmas is a rare treat. We have made sure to spoil her with way too many presents in hopes that she will consider coming here again next year. Knowing that their beloved Grandma is on her her way here right this minute, my kids are absolutely manic. They are running around screaming and laughing, playing and wrestling and are out of breath in anticipation.

My mom is the most beautiful sixty-something year-old woman you'll ever see. She always looks nice and is very charming. Recently she was running errands and out of the blue, a man gave her his phone number. Go mom!

Whenever my mom comes to visit I get to request my favorite dishes and she makes them happily and perfectly. She does fun Grandma-ish things like buying my kids doughnuts and soda and then advising them not to tell me. She reads my kids bedtime stories and takes them to McDonalds for breakfast. They know she loves them and I love how she has given them a sweet sense of comfort. What a woman!

We are jealous she is up there but it is only fair to share the goods every once in a while :-)
Have a great Christmas!
