Random

I think so many of my days are mundane. The same. Groundhog Day. They're not bad, they're just...predictable. I have a list of random things that I think are terribly boring, but might make me think or laugh someday when I'm filling my days with things that are different from what I do now.

Over the past couple of weeks as I have been working in the yard I found hundreds of little plants that looked like carrot sprouts. Everywhere. When I pull them, there are indeed little tiny carrots forming. How? Why? Who?
Wilson asked me about World War II and it led to a discussion about Hitler. I explained that sometimes people who are good-looking and charismatic (women apparently swooned over old Adolf) are able to win the trust of a large group of people and convince the crowd to accept and enact their own personal, screwball beliefs. The next day I read the text from a speech Sarah Palin gave, in which she told a large group of people things that weren't true, but that supported her personal, screwball beliefs. No doubt they are believed and accepted as fact by lots of people. For a person who is a habitual liar, she has wooed far too many people, in my opinion.
Zane can't stand the music I listen to. The feeling is mutual; after all, we are from different generations, really. I gag when he is listening to 70s rock (or 90s rock for that matter) and he cringes when I have my oldies music going. Yesterday I had Rosemary Clooney on while I cleaned the house. He walked past the kitchen and said, "Who is this? Someone dead, probably."
Without being too much of a braggart, my children were both recognized for different exceptional things they can do this week. I am floating around about six inches above the floor, just glowing with pride. My kids are awesome.
I love it when I'm talking on the phone to my sister, Laurie, and she says, "Hold on for a sec, [then in a louder voice], Hi, can I get the number 6 with a large Coke?" She can do that because she runs for miles and miles straight uphill every day. She rocks.
We are looking forward to a visit from two of our favorite people this weekend. Plans are being built around the farmer's market, baseball games, visiting, eating at Mai Thai...ahhh, life is good. Predictable, but good.

Someone dead? LOL. I've heard that line from my husband when it comes to movies.

Amen to your Sarah Palin sentiments.

I have to admit that when I started reading the good looking charismatic part I was totally thinking of Obama.

Your kids are exceptional and I really wish I was one of the family members coming up this week!

Haha, I do that at the drive up waaayy too much! Although, after Carlie's science fair project on fast food, I might be doing it a lot less...

Good looking and charismatic, sure, but I don't see Obama spouting off screwball ideas. If he's guilty of anything, in my book, it's being overly optimistic. That's way better than demented.

The only really good music that came out of the 70's (in my opinion) was Steeely Dan and Boz Skaggs. And the Grateul Dead jammed all the way through the 70's, so that goes without saying. Sorry, everything else pretty much on par with 70's fashion-Crap! -Zane
