See Zane. See Zane work his rear end off to finish the infamous BASEMENT project that has lasted longer than we care to admit. I told Eliza this week that when she is 31 years old, and choosing a husband, she should make sure he is as skilled in the art of Handy Man Stuff as her father. He rocks my world. Especially the basement.

And, speaking of Eliza...We have a game--Scrabble Slam--where you rearrange the letters to make three or four-letter words. This is what I found when I opened it up to play with Wilson this week. Eliza thinks that is the funniest word. The girl cracks me up.

And speaking of girls, my friend with the world's girliest family (her husband has been known to sing Disney Princess songs to their three charming daughters) was taken off guard this week when her seven year-old claimed to love Justin "Beaver" songs. "Hmmm", she thought. Are we there already? Yes, Jayna, you are. Since Eliza became big enough to sit in the front seat and man the dials, I have had a whole new music experience. When my kids were little and I still ran the show, it was a steady diet of Johnny Cash and Bob Marley with a smattering of Raffi and Dropkick Murphys in our car. Now it's all pop all the time.

I spoke fondly of sewing like crazy last week. That was until I went back to the fabric store to buy 1/3 of a yard of 'mega dots' fabric to finish a pattern and found that it has been sold out and will not be restocked. It took the wind right out of my sails and I started questioning myself and the logic behind putting a *lot* of time and money into cutting pieces of fabric apart, only to sew them back together again...I see knitting in my very near future.

I hear you with the quilting thing! We should start quilting with only our old clothes and the scraps from all the clothes we make for our children, like the Amish. Let's make a pact together to not lose our minds over quilting, but still try to do it. Maybe we should start using dryer lint for batting (just kidding, that's where I draw the line!). The other day I found myself on ebay looking for a certain out of production fabric and it was $20 a yard and I briefly considered buying it, but that is just CRAZY so I decided I didn't need it. Whew.
And good work on the basement. I want to see it!
Whoa, ladies, whoa. Neither one of you can give up quilting until a certain someone has enjoyed some serious hand-holding and remedial instructions form the pair of you!!!
p.s. Heather, I second the handy-man approach to eternal companions. Tyler doesn't do drywall, but he can re-wire just about anything!
p.p.s. And he does sing "Part of that world" while he does electrical work...
Crud. What a great word :-)
I can't wait to come see the basement! And if you can't find a man that can fix things, at least find one that loves paying people to fix things. Either or...
