Weekend Update

1. Why do all my piano students come prepared and happy, when it is like slow torture to get my own two to do their practicing?

2. Carly and Levi watched the kids on Friday night while Zane and I went out to a movie. Sometimes I forget that I am a wife as well as a mommy, and it was nice. Gracias tia y tio!

3. Zane and I have never gone away together, leaving our kids overnight and we have been married almost fifteen years. Someone I know said recently, "It's been, like, almost a year since we had a weekend away without the kids." Am I missing something? On the same note, Eliza asked me yesterday, "Why don't you and Daddy leave for about three weeks and Grandma can come and take care of us?" Ok, I get it!

4. Signed the kids up for baseball and softball. Is spring really that close???!!

5. Zane started hanging the drywall in the basement. Yes, it's true. After five years we are finally going to have a basement that doesn't scare our childrens' friends away. Trouble was, he tried to enlist my help. Picture me, tottering on my tippy toes holding up an 8'x4' piece of sheetrock while Zane tries to drill it into the studs. That lasted all of about 90 seconds and we called our favorite handyman, Harold. He'll be here at the end of the week.

6. It is my year to choose where our family goes on our summer vacaction. I'm thinking about a stay-cation. We can do all the things that I usually brush off and tell my kids it's too expensive or takes too much times or whatever. Horse rides in McCall, Shakespeare festival, water park, golf lessons for the four of us and a trip or two down the Boise river. Any other suggestions?

Please don't say a weekend away without kids...

Stay-cation sounds good. We have done it and I recommend it. After that, try the weekend away. You might like it! But, don't get too anxious to be away from my darling niece and nephew - soon enough you will have plenty of weekends to yourselves. Handyman is a good choice...

I think we had more fun babysitting than your kids did! We got to play Connect 4, watch The Sandlot, make Muddie Buddies....pretty much the best night ever! Feel free to call on us anytime you want, I am all for you and Zane having a getaway.

I don't know how to process your 15 years with no couples' vacations. Are you insane or my heroes? Do I admire or disdain? Awesome.

Was drywall your weekend project or did you do the kitchen? I was hustled out of there so fast today after I got my water I forgot to notice/ask! :)

We ended up painting our master robin's egg blue- bright and I like it!

Also, we saw the Holmes movie over the weekend and I was surprised that I liked it because it was an unusual movie!
