A few days ago the kids and I were in the fabric store (of course) and waiting in a long line to get fabric cut. Wilson and Eliza were goofing around and had become quite rambunctious. At one point Wilson actually got a running start and then hit the floor and slid on his chest in his new puffy winter coat alongside the line of customers. I did my very best Public, In Control Mother, but Firm Discipline voice and said, "Wilson, that's enough!" One of the women in line looked over and said very loudly, "Yes Wilson. Stop having fun. No laughing, and definitely no playing". Wilson's and Eliza's eyes got as big as saucers. Then she said "It's five o'clock, we all just got off of work and the traffic is terrible in the rain. It's nice to hear somebody laughing". We all laughed, and I realized that I need to lighten up! My kids are only young once and, by golly, they're pretty darn good kids so I should enjoy them.
