Play Ball! Oh, wait...nevermind

Our dear friends Eric and Melissa have a fun tradition of getting all their friends and family together to go the Salt Lake Bees game on the 24th of July. Unfortunately, this year the Portland Beavers cancelled due to a 'team illness' (swine flu, anyone??) so the Bees were not to be. We complained a little, but as Eric bluntly put it, "Why do you women care, you're just going to be chit-chatting the whole time anyway". (If you haven't ever met Eric, you're missing out on a special treat). We were pleasantly surprised when we got to the stadium, however, as up-and-coming hot shot Bryce Harper was playing on one of the substitute teams. He kicked bootie in the pre-game homerun derby, which was much more entertaining and interesting than the five innings of the actual game. The whole night seemed oddly improvised and we were worried we weren't going to get to sing Sweet Caroline, as it was a shortened outing, but happily, they played it during the fireworks after the game. And yes, we did lots of chit-chatting. Thanks, Melissa and Eric!
