I have realized that I cannot ever stop teaching pre/school. I have too many children's books! They would go to waste! My own children have just barely grown out of my collection of storybooks (wiping tears here) and I'm way too far away from grandchildren to hold out for that. Yet I keep buying more and more. I am such a sucker for books because it doesn't take much to convince myself that I *need* this one or that one. My kids *need* a biography of Jane Goodall because...well, because EVERYONE should know how awesome she is. And I *need* a great collection of Greek Myths and every book ever written by Jan Brett, Dr. Seuss and Todd Parr. I am an avid library patron as well, though, so I don't completely break the bank.
This week at the library I found this terrific book on the staff recommendation shelf. I have always liked this author, because of his crazy book, "Who Needs Donuts?". This is really sweet with his trademark drawings and great details. It's about a librarian who goes to incredible lengths to save the books from 'the war'. Check it out.

I'll have to see if we carry it at our store, maybe we can put it on a display :) You always have great taste in kids' books!
I just organized all my books so that they're more findable. I was sure I'd get rid of a bunch because I have too many but I just made more shelf room. (And pulled all the duplicates for birthday presents)
Even though I would rather die than teach preschool, I LOVE children's books too. It's the one area in which I feel NO guilt for spoiling my children.
Thanks for dropping by my blog yard and saying hello. :)
