Eliza and I took a little road trip together this weekend. Irish Dance Idaho performed at a Highland Games gathering in Eastern Oregon, just a couple of hours from here. The boys stayed home and she and I had a good time together. We stayed at a hotel with the rest of the dance troupe and a whole lot of big, kilted men. We had a little treat when, at about 10:30 at night, the 'pub crawl' ended up at the bar just below our window. We awoke to a fiddle, the drones of bagpipes, rhythm of the bodhran, and the (most-likely drunken) singing of Mary Mac and the likes. We stood on our balcony for a while and enjoyed the tunes. It was all in good fun. Eliza danced at a ceilidh (prounce it somewhere between kay-lee and kay-uh-lee) on Friday, and then again four or five times at the Highland Games on Saturday. It was a nice way to wrap up the summer. Good job, Eliza!

Eliza's instructors were kind enough to let all the dancers wear jackets. It was fuh-reezing.

Have you ever witnessed a 'Bonny Knees' contest?? It was very entertaining.

Eliza and her pal, Fiona

Overheard at the Highland Games:
Two members of the bagpipe band resting between sets.
Piper #1: "Is he a decent enough guy?"
Piper #2: "I wouldn't trust him with my pipes."
There you have it.
